Goin' Shopping

Nancy and I went garage sale hunting one weekend. We were looking for some shelves that we could use outside, but came home empty handed. One thing we noticed that was new to us was that many of the bigger garage sales weren't using the traditional cigar box or a metal cookie tin. Instead, they were using a cash drawer. The sellers were a lot more...serious on the prices they wanted for their stuff too. No low ball bargaining, they wanted something close to what they asked for it in the first place. That was no big deal for us, as we don't do a lot of bargaining anyway, but we saw more than one person, who seemed intent on getting 10 pairs of boys jeans for a quarter, end up either paying more or walking away empty handed.

Things are changing.

Fruit Trees

It's almost Spring, and that means it's just about time to go to a tree nursery for the fruit trees Nancy wants to try out. She wants some citrus and perhaps a pear tree to plant in the front yard. The HOA isn't crazy about food plants in the front yard, but they don't fuss about Loquats, so they really can't say anything about other trees.

The ones we're looking for will be dwarfed varieties, and they may be planted in pots. It would be too hard to tend larger trees, and this way, if we do get into trouble, we can roll the pots to the side yard till we know the HOA nosybodies have come and gone.

Cleaner Air - Not From Mr Gore

It has been awhile since I have thought about air purifiers. I realize that we probably have several reasons in our home why such devices would be of a greater value than not having them, but right not finances are controlling our purchasing choices. That is Unless their prices are well under the price range I was told about ten years ago. Three hundred to start. Five hundred if you have enough sources of irritation (I wonder if two pups and one cat qualify as irritations). Well I shall get into some intense researching soon - real soon!
